Recycle - Be the a part of the Change
by Julia Berardi - Monday, 19 September 2016, 9:42 AM

Chef Scott recently estimated that STA goes through about 115 bottle and cans A DAY.  How many of those are being recycled?  If you find this as troubling as I do and feel like you want to do something about it, email me at  We will find a time to meet and discuss what we can do to encourage a positive and much needed change at STA!

    STAR CUPS on Fridays!!!
by Julia Berardi - Tuesday, 13 September 2016, 3:18 PM

Some things have changed this year:

    • Ø WE’VE MOVED.  We’re in the Commons and no longer in Verheyen.
    • Ø THE FOOD IS DIFFERENT THIS YEAR.  BETTER.  On Fridays in September, a student will be selling Chick-fil-a breakfast sandwiches for $3 to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  On Fridays after that, Chef Scott will be offering lots of great breakfast food – burritos, sandwiches, parfaits, fruit, and more.
    • Ø HOW YOU PAY HAS CHANGED TOO.  For StarCups beverages, you can still use cash or a StarCups punch card, but now you can also use your credit or debit card!  (All Bistro food items must be paid with your Bistro card.  Chick-fil-a is cash only.)

Look for StarCups moms in the Commons during lunch on Wednesday and Thursday.  We’ll be selling StarCups punch cards - 20 punches @ 50 cents per punch - for $10.  We’ll also be selling our ceramic mugs and travel cups – 1 free coffee with purchase while supplies last!

STA history teacher, Mike Egner, has finished scheduling and planning his fourth student trip to England and France, which will take place June 13-22 in summer of 2017.  Students in all grade levels are eligible to take part in the trip.  Trip participants will be limited to 30.  Teachers Alicia Stewart and Anne Papineau will chaperone the trip as well. Every two years, Mr. Egner has planned and led this trip to Greater London, and various locations in southern England including Cambridge, Bath, Stonehenge, Oxford, Canterbury, Dover, and Greenwich.  In France the tour will include Greater Paris sites and Versailles Chateau.  Students who are interested and would like more information can see Mr. Egner at school.  Parents who are interested in getting more information (itinerary, cost, registration) can contact Mr. Egner by email at STA,  The next student-parent meeting will be August 29 at 6:30 PM in Mr. Egner's classroom in Windmoor .
